Earthworks & Ground
Excavation, embankment, retaining structures and ground improvement — preparing the ground the works will sit on.
What we do
Excavation and haulage, controlled fill, slope stabilisation, retaining walls and reinforced earth structures, drainage, and ground improvement (lime/cement stabilisation, stone columns, jet grouting and similar methods).
How we work
No improvement method is selected without a ground investigation. The cut-fill balance is established and suitable material is separated. Layer thickness and compaction energy are set by a trial embankment; each layer is accepted by a compaction test.
Standards
Compaction is verified against Proctor testing; slope stability calculations and soil parameters are taken from the geotechnical report.
Excavators, dozers, graders, vibratory and sheepsfoot rollers, stabilisation mixers and a site laboratory. Haul routes and spoil tipping permits form part of the works.
Slope angles and shoring calculations are mandatory in deep excavation; groundwater ingress is addressed by drainage first. Site vehicle routes are separated from pedestrian ways.
Prequalification & survey
We review the tender documents, visit the site and put the existing conditions and the client's expectations in writing.
Quantities & proposal
We produce item-based quantities and present a proposal with a clearly defined scope; exclusions are stated explicitly.
Planning & permits
A single programme, the resource plan and required permit processes are set up.
Execution
The site is mobilized; infrastructure and buildings proceed on one schedule and are reported regularly.
Handover
The snag list is closed and as-built documents are handed over.
Is ground improvement needed on every project?
No. If the investigation shows adequate bearing capacity, no improvement is carried out; unnecessary treatment inflates cost. The decision rests on the geotechnical report.
What happens to surplus excavated material?
Suitable material is reused as fill; the remainder is hauled to a licensed tipping site with records kept.
